Vladivostok [Russia], September 2: At the Eastern Economic Forum 2026 (EEF-2026), Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank, announced that the bank has acquired two Summit Towers business centers in New Delhi. The acquisition represents an important step in strengthening the infrastructural presence of Sber and Russian businesses in India.
The purchase of these properties in the Indian capital will create a new platform for long-term partnership. Sber is steadily expanding its presence in India, and this investment is part of that continued strategy.
Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank:
“We are steadily increasing our presence in India, including in the real estate sector. Not long ago, we acquired two business centers (Summit Towers) in New Delhi. The two large towers in central Delhi, located beside the World Trade Center, are expected to be completed by 2028. We will establish a center for Russian-Indian cooperation here – providing a new infrastructural foundation for Russian business presence in India. We invite Russian companies to become our partners and join us.”
Earlier, the executive emphasized Sber’s plans to actively continue developing payment instruments and deploying AI solutions in India in 2027, further strengthening its role as the primary provider of bilateral payments between the two nations.
Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank:
“Over the past year, we have experienced significant progress both in banking services and across new business areas. More than 90% of payments from Russia to India are now processed in under 10 minutes (compared to 60% a year earlier), while more than one-third of payments are completed within 60 seconds. In practical terms, if you make a transaction while speaking with an Indian colleague on a call, the payment can be debited from the Russian company and credited to the Indian partner during that same conversation. Payments between the two countries are processed very quickly, clearly, efficiently, and at a low commission. This serves as another strong bridge for the continued development of our relations.”
